VRChat Flight Week 2026 Ends and More!
The formal closure of Flight Week 2026, some updates about the organization going forward and the first wave of staff appreciation messages
Yo! This is administrator Aaron (VRC ID: Ribbon-Blue) with the Outreach Team. I have a lot to say about the ending of VRChat Flight Week 2026 (FW26), but let's save that for later. We've got some messages from other staff members you can check out at the bottom of this post instead.
Though this event is officially over, there is still more to do. Let's talk about that and some behind the scenes details as we take a break from work in 2026 while already chattering about ideas for 2027.
Event Over, Hub World Still Available
As of September 28th, 2026 at 11 AM PST, the Flight Week 2026 featured banner on the front page of the VRChat main menu has been removed. The second year of this VRChat aviation focused event was its largest and most complex showing. While solid statistics on world visits will come in a few days, we also know this event went far beyond the parameters we set for it.
Though the event is over, the decision has been made to keep the VRChat Flight Week 2026 hub world available to the public all year around. Similar to how the two worlds created for Flight Week 2025 have been available. Feel free to come back whenever you feel sentimental. I know I will.
Completion of Exhibitor Pages
As the Flight Week team enters a period of rest following the event, there are still things to do. The most pressing task being the completion of the exhibitor pages!
There are certain registered and unregistered exhibitors that were prioritized for a very specific reason. But normally, you would expect that the pages for over 90 exhibitors would be completed before the event even starts, right? So why were they not completed before hand? The reason is positive but certainly unplanned for: external community events.
Original Scope vs Event Expansion
The original plan for FW26 was rather simple at a glance. First, repeat the process we had last year. Highlight over 20 flight themed VRChat worlds in a Flight Week specific banner on the front page. This is something "easy enough" because it's basically curating a list of worlds we believed gave the international VRChat audience the most varied flight experiences. Second, create a central hub world where all sponsors and exhibitors could be represented - similar to other large scale VRChat events. Other planned notable additions were a reorganization of the barely used Discord server from 2025 and creation of an official X.com profile for moving information quickly.
However, during the last two weeks of exhibitor sign ups before registration closed, there were multiple communities, groups and creators that became involved with Flight Week by hosting their own events. Airshows, tournaments, community events, FPV drone races, even concerts. Normally it would be easy to simple say "we are not supporting you, it is outside of our plan". However, the administrative staff of Flight Week 2026 at our core are aviation enthusiasts that have made VRChat a significant part of our lives. Both in the skies of VRChat and in our social relationships.
Despite the administrative staff only being made of four people at the time, we rapidly expanded the team with volunteers to help support as many of these external community events as possible while adding them to all official Flight Week 2026 channels.
Admittedly, it was quite hard. Many of the staff hours that would have been spent managing exhibitor facing pages were expended on event coordination, meeting with communities and individuals in person no matter the time zone and enabling on going event support via social media and the creation of items like the Event Guide.
Some of our staff had times where they would be awake for over 48 hours with a short nap before starting the next 48 hour period. This was to ensure that we connected with international groups as much as possible before the event even began.
It was hard, unplanned for, but completely worth it.

Throughout October 2026 our social media channel will be posting and reposting content related to Flight Week 2026. This will be happening alongside the planned exhibitor facing website updates. See the following hashtags on X.com for many pictures and videos.
Discord Status Being Deliberated
Conversations about what to do with the Discord are still ongoing. It will remain online as it did after the 2025 event, but in what capacity is something we are still discussing.

The date has come, and we can finally say: Flight Week 2026 has come to a close. Thanks to everyone who attended in their own way, be it by joining worlds that were part of the row, hosting events or taking tours of the Hub World. It has been amazing seeing everything that all of you have been up to, and how much engagement we have gotten from communities all over the world. Initially, this event was only meant to be about the Hub World and the World Row, just like it was last year. But, opportunities came and communities came together. This meant that we were given proposals to run concerts, airshows, tournaments and more. And all of them on different timezones. This would have been impossible to accomplish with the initial staff numbers we had, which was only the core group of admins. That is when we were joined by many, many other people that were willing to help us run everything, and to be able to make all those proposed events a reality. To the musicians that put on shows in support of the event, to the airshow teams that ran displays, and to those who ran tournaments and Flight Hop events, thank you. It was that activity that made this show feel so alive, and for that I am infinitely thankful. But I would like to specially thank those that helped us run the show, those who were up at crazy hours of the morning to make sure that events ran smoothly across international barriers. Those who helped reach out to other communities and got them involved in our little celebration of virtual aviation, To the outreach team, my fellow admins, thank you. We still have some announcements to make regarding the future of the event, this very Discord server and the website we made for this occasion. Stay tuned for those, as they will come shortly.
